Growing up in Corsicana, Texas Steve A. Keathley was educated in Corsicana schools and attended Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a Ross Volunteer and Head Yell Leader.

After a brief experience in the oil and gas business in Dallas, he attended Hamline-University School of Law, in St. Paul Minnesota, and received his Juris Doctor in May of 1993. He was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law in November of 1993.

Steve started his career as a prosecutor in the 33rd Judicial District; Travis County; and Brazos County District Attorney's Office(s), prosecuting felonies and handling appellate work.

In 1996, Steve returned to Corsicana where he started a law private with Robert C. Dunn and Associates. In 1999, he joined his wife Sarah and began Keathley and Keathley, a general law practice firm.

In 2002, Steve ran for and won the elected position of Criminal District Attorney of Navarro County, Texas and served in that capacity until 2007.

In 2007, he returned to private practice at Keathley and Keathley, where he focuses on criminal defense, as well as civil and family litigation.

Steve and Sarah are members of St. John's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry. They have two children.

In addition to various boards and leadership positions held in the community, Steve is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Navarro College Police Academy Advisory Board. He is the past president of the Navarro County Texas A&M Club, Past Treasurer of the Navarro County Bar Association, and the Past President of the Collins Catholic School Parent/Teacher Association.

Steve enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, Texas A&M University sporting events, and is a committed runner.
